SBIR/STTR Grant Writing Resources

LaunchTN assists Tennessee startups and entrepreneurs in preparing applications to the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) programs, which annually provide more than $4 billion in non-dilutive funding through the participating federal agencies towards early-stage technology development.
Funded in part through the Small Business Administration’s Federal and State Technology (FAST) Partnership Program, LaunchTN is able to offer a range of resources to help you navigate the SBIR/STTR programs.

Our SBIR/STTR support resources include:

  • Assistance with identifying relevant solicitations: We understand that identifying relevant solicitations can be overwhelming, so we offer assistance to help you navigate and find the right solicitations for your business.
  • Grant writing and proposal development support: LaunchTN offers grant writing and proposal development support to help you create a compelling and competitive SBIR/STTR proposal.
  • Editorial reviews and proposal supplements: We provide editorial reviews and proposal supplements to help you refine and strengthen your proposal.
  • Agency preparation and introductions: We can help you prepare for agency meetings and introductions, including mock proposal reviews and pitch sessions.

In addition to these resources, LaunchTN offers the microgrant program to provide between $4,000 and $6,000 to qualifying Tennessee companies to engage a commercialization consultant in preparing an SBIR/STTR application. LaunchTN has a strong track record of helping Tennessee companies secure federal SBIR/STTR awards. Specifically, 50% of the Tennessee companies that have received microgrants from LaunchTN have gone on to receive a federal SBIR/STTR award, which is a significantly higher success rate than the national average of 15%.

LaunchTN is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the SBIR/STTR programs. We seek to ensure that all entrepreneurs in Tennessee have equal access to our support resources, regardless of their background or identity. We actively engage with underrepresented entrepreneurs and provide education and resources to help them overcome unique challenges. Our goal is to build a more equitable and thriving innovation ecosystem in Tennessee.
