We’re technically called the Tennessee Technology Development Corporation, but that’s a mouthful. We are doing business as Launch Tennessee, which is the name you’ll see us use.
Governance
History
In 1998, the Tennessee General Assembly created the Tennessee Technology Development Corporation in an effort to strengthen the economy and support businesses through science and technology.
In 2012, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development joined the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Technology Development Corporation to reimagine the organization as a public-private partnership, under the Launch Tennessee brand.
The organization is a private, 501c3 created and funded by the state but intentionally positioned outside state government.
