Launch Tennessee (LaunchTN) announces nine new speakers for 36|86, LaunchTN’s flagship event highlighting the best in southern culture, entrepreneurship and investment. Eventbrite Co-founders Kevin Hartz (CEO) and Julia Hartz (President) will host a fireside chat on Building a Billion Dollar Business. Founded in 2006, Eventbrite has processed over $3 billion in gross ticket sales in 180 countries. Hartz has served as an early-stage investor and advisor to successful startups including PayPal, Pinterest, Lookout, Airbnb, Trulia and Yammer.
Culer, a Nashville-based company, just raised almost $2.4M ($2,361,192) in funding according to SEC documents. The new product line includes two Culer systems. One is a one-port device covering an area of 250 square feet, and one is a two-port device covering 500 square feet. Culer is among a growing number of physical product-based startups in Nashville and in Tennessee.
Brian Wentzloff is part musician, part developer, all entrepreneur and he happens to live in Memphis Tennessee. A few years back he was working with Cardinal Health, a multifaceted organization that supports a variety of health care providers like doctors offices, pharmacies and hospitals. Wentzloff was a consultant that specialized in application development which is at the core of the tools Cardinal Health provides for it’s clients.
Student designers and engineers will convene at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center for VandyHacks, a weekend hackathon contest. Vanderbilt University is hosting the March 20-22 event at the center, located at 41 Peabody St. in Nashville. After two days of hacking, March 22 will be dedicated to judging and prizes for the new websites, applications and hardware hacks.
Launched today on Xbox One, Overdog seeks to match players with similar interests and connect them to play online. It works a bit like a dedicated console social network, letting Xbox One players highlight a bunch of their interests, gaming and non-gaming alike, to create matches with other players. Overdog also wants to connect players with celebrity gamers.
