Belmont Bootstrapping Advocate Jeff Cornwall Unveils Family Business

Later this month, Cornwall said, he’ll formally announce the company and its TheEntrepreneurialMind.com site. In 2013, his original site by that name was ranked 27th among Forbes’ ranking of the Top 100 sites for entrepreneurs. With subscriptions to be priced a $4.99 per month, Cornwall said the reconstituted website will “help small business owners get their questions answered through a collection of videos” that is far more expansive than the video interviews he’s long done with Talkapolis.

Nashville Women Programmers Turns Two – and Welcomes All
The Nashville Women Programmers meetup will officially celebrate their second anniversary at the Eventbrite Nashville office, their current host location. While a discussion of diversity in the tech community rising from the hashtag #ILookLikeAnEngineer is currently trending on Twitter, the visibility of women in technology, or even a discussion of women in technology, was not so clear a few years ago.

TN’s AgLaunch Entrepreneurship Event to Mark Progress Toward Activation

AgLaunch, the State of Tennessee’s agriculture-sector entrepreneurship and business-acceleration push, will mark a milestone Aug. 20 and then push onward. On that date, Ag-sector entrepreneurs, investors and State officials will convene at Ripley in West Tennessee to announcem that funding for AgLaunch’s stand-up phase has been secured: A total $150K from Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA), and $70K from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Planning and infrastructure grants of similar magnitude were previously provided by TDA and USDA for an earlier stage of the effort.

Start-Up Competition Backed by State Kicks Off in Memphis

Memphis will be the kick-off site for the Delta Challenge Pitch Competition which aims to redirect venture capital from the East and West coast into the hands of 36 regional entrepreneurs and organizations. The series of six pitch competitions are hosted by the Delta Entrepreneurship Network, a sub-group of federal-state partnership Delta Regional Authority. The Delta Challenge will begin onSeptember 16 at Memphis’ Start Co. and it will travel across the Delta region seeking up to 20 entrepreneurs and 15 entrepreneurship organizations for the inaugural DEN fellowship.

WRVU Friends and Family Launch WXNA-LPFM Kickstarter Campaign
The much-anticipated launch of WXNA “Low Power, High Voltage Radio” LPFM is getting a step closer with the launch of their 35-day Kickstarter campaign.  The fundraising attempt, which started last week, will run through Sept. 9 and is seeking to raise $50,000 to cover the necessities needed to start the station. WRVU Friends and Family, the parent organization of WXNA, was granted in December 2014 an FCC construction permit to build an LPFM in Nashville. According to the press release, the station’s tower will be located in the Germantown neighborhood and will broadcast at 101.5 MHz FM with an effective power of 100 watts, and will simulcast on the Internet to reach a worldwide audience.
