LaunchTN portfolio company PaintJet was in the news this week.
CNBC highlighted the Hendersonville, Tennessee-based startup, which CEO Nick Hegeman started after his experience running a painting franchise in Nashville.
The industry’s labor shortage he experienced prompted Hegeman to launch PaintJet, which created a fleet of remote-controlled robots to paint buildings that are generally challenging, such as warehouse exteriors.
The robots use about 25 percent less paint than in a traditional application, according to the article.
In three years, with 20 employees, PaintJet has covered more than 1.5 million square feet of building exteriors and ships.
