U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Jay Clayton delivered his annual address on the main stage at 36|86.
In a wide-ranging speech, Chairman Clayton discussed initial coin offerings, disclosure modernization and simplification, new and evolving guidance from the SEC’s division of corporation finance and what’s next for public companies. He praised the startup ecosystem in Nashville with incubators, accelerators, co-working spaces and startup competitions that are helping entrepreneurs in the area thrive. Chairman Clayton also talked about small businesses and how the SEC is looking at ways to give them assistance to grow and create new jobs. Speaking about talent and the workforce, Chairman Clayton described the agency’s work to foster inclusivity among startups.
