36|86 to Expand Women, Minority and Veteran Entrepreneur Participation with FedEx Support

FedEx Collaborates with Launch Tennessee on Scholarship Program to Bring 100 Underrepresented Entrepreneurs to the Southeast’s Largest Startup Festival

Nashville, Tenn. – The South’s leading entrepreneurship festival, 36|86, is expanding its minority, veteran and women’s participation with the support of FedEx, which will offer 100 scholarships to attend the Festival specifically for these underserved and underrepresented populations of entrepreneurs. Launch Tennessee (LaunchTN), a public-private partnership that fosters entrepreneurship across the state, produces the festival, slated for Aug. 29 – 30 in Nashville. FedEx will extend these scholarships to founders through the FedEx Global Entrepreneur Access program.

Scholarships will be sourced through LaunchTN partner referrals and an application process on the LaunchTN website [APPLICATION NOW CLOSED].

“FedEx is honored to provide women, minority and veteran entrepreneurs with the opportunity to attend the 36|86 Entrepreneurship Festival,” said Richard W. Smith, President and CEO of FedEx Trade Networks. “We are committed to helping underserved and underrepresented groups gain equal access to the skills, connections and capital needed to scale their businesses and bring new innovations to market. The FedEx Global Entrepreneur Access program delivers on that commitment and continues to collaborate with Launch Tennessee to support entrepreneurship across the region.”

In addition to the scholarship program, FedEx will sponsor the Impact programming track of 36|86, featuring panels, workshops and fireside chats discussing the value of investing in diversity and why mission-driven companies create high-value investment opportunities.

This year, LaunchTN focused on elevating female and minority voices who represent diversity of experience and industry on stage at 36|86, from Arlan Hamilton, whose company funds LGBT, minority and female founders, to Abe Minkara, manager of Mark Cuban’s SharkTank portfolio, to Karen Cahn, who founded iFundWomen to increase access to capital for female entrepreneurs.

“We are excited to deepen our collaboration with FedEx for 36|86,” said Charlie Brock, CEO of Launch Tennessee. “This year’s festival was built to ensure founders walk away with actionable advice on how to assemble a workforce, refine a go-to-market strategy and raise capital to scale a business. The scholarship program will help to level the playing field and ensure we reach everyone seeking to launch or scale a business in Tennessee and beyond.”

36|86 Entrepreneurship Festival is LaunchTN’s signature event, bringing together entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem builders from across the country for two days of impactful programming, curated networking and market access conversations. The festival will run Aug. 29-30 at four venues in downtown Nashville. For more information on the festival agenda and to purchase a ticket, visit attend3686.com.
