SEC Chairman Jay Clayton will deliver keynote address at Southeast’s largest startup festival
Nashville, Tenn. – Launch Tennessee (LaunchTN), a public-private partnership that fosters entrepreneurship across the state, today announced that U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Jay Clayton will deliver a keynote at 36|86 Entrepreneurship Festival. The Festival is the South’s largest gathering of entrepreneurs, investors and innovation ecosystem builders, and this year it promises more opportunities for networking and educational value as it takes over the streets and multiple venues in downtown Nashville, Tenn.
Chairman Clayton is expected to speak about the SEC’s efforts to facilitate capital formation and serve the long-term interests of investors, to an audience of founders, venture capitalists, top CEOs and innovators from across the nation. Clayton was nominated to chair the SEC on January 20, 2017 and sworn in on May 4, 2017.
Following his remarks, Chairman Clayton will participate in a fireside chat with William Hinman, Director of the Division of Corporation Finance of the SEC, that will be moderated by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam.
“We are grateful to have Chairman Clayton and Mr. Hinman join us on stage at 36|86 to discuss initiatives important to entrepreneurs and investors,” said Charlie Brock, CEO of Launch Tennessee. “Our festival is designed to give any attendee—whether a young startup or seasoned investor—the information and connections needed to build a vibrant startup ecosystem in their community. Chairman Clayton’s perspective will be especially important to understand the ways government can enable companies to raise the money they need to grow and create jobs.”
Powered by LaunchTN, 36|86 offers actionable programming and hands-on panels designed to help businesses at all levels grow. The festival will run Aug. 29-30 at four venues in downtown Nashville. For more information on the festival agenda and to purchase a ticket, visit attend3686.com.
