Thank you, Nashville, for supporting 36|86 and joining us in the celebration of southern entrepreneurship, technology and culture. Our regional conference concluded Wednesday to shouts of approval and applause as our panel of judges awarded the top prize to Jewel Burks, the female founder of PartPic, an exceptional startup among a field of fantastic companies from the region.
We appreciate the ongoing conversation about what matters to support best-in-class startups in our region.
If anyone was offended by any of the comments by any of the participants, we apologize. It’s worth noting that the feedback from our attendees was terrific as they appreciated the diverse program, the startup pitches and the overall hospitality throughout the 2 days. They were particularly impressed with the 30%+ female representation found throughout the panelists.
As Julia Hartz, Co-Founder and President of Eventbrite said during her fireside chat at 36|86, “We had the typical Denver, Salt Lake, Austin list of tech startup centers top of mind. But, we chose Nashville for a lot of reasons, including the vibrant community, friendly people, and bright talent. Opening our second U.S. office in Nashville a year ago was again one of those contrarian choices. People still raise their eyebrows. I want to shout it from the rooftops, but I also want to keep our competitive advantage!”
Numerous tech conferences coming to Nashville demonstrates the entire community’s passion and support of our growing startup community.
