October 25-27, 2016– As many as 150 intelligent transportation professionals from around the world are expected to be in Knoxville later this month for a three-day event hosted by GRIDSMART Technologies Inc. It’s the West Knoxville company’s second annual INTERSECT16 Conference, with the subscript number designating the year. The inaugural event, dubbed INTERSECT15, drew more than 100 attendees from seven countries.

Marcus Whitney has been to the White House before, as a young tourist. His visit Monday was a little bit different. Whitney — a well-known Nashville serial tech entrepreneur currently serving as president of investment fund Jumpstart Foundry, running his own venture The Unlikely Co. and helping spearhead a push for a United Soccer League franchise in Nashville — was one of the lucky group selected from a pool of 20,000 nominees to attend South by South Lawn, President Barack Obama’s festival of ideas, art and action.

The announcement was delivered yesterday by Martin Ventures CTO and Hashed Health COO Corey Todaro, near the finale of the blockchain-centric Distributed: Health conference at The Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
