Begun in 2008 by CEO and founder Eric Mathews, Start Co. has three 100-day accelerator programs for diverse companies in the tech field. Seed Hatchery focuses on business to business, or B2B, software and hardware solutions and as Start Co.’s first accelerator, Seed Hatchery has launched 22 companies since 2011, with up to six startups per session. The Sky High accelerator helps launch social impact tech startups and Upstart is an accelerator for female entrepreneurs with six startups per session. August 13th marks Start Co.’s 5th Demo Day showcasing recent graduates from the three.

The Knoxville Entrepreneur Center is hosting its second annual “MediaWorks Demo Day” on August 11 at the Square Room on Market Square. Ahead of that event, we are profiling the nine companies in the start-up accelerator. MenuMagic is one of nine companies participating in this year’s “MediaWorks” start-up accelerator program. We posed a set of questions to each of the entrepreneurs. Here are Isaac Johnson’s responses.

Memphis Video Production Company Expands to Los Angeles

Memphis-based VIA Productions has opened a new location in Los Angeles. The new production office, located at 2656 29th Street in Santa Monica, will be managed by current VIA producer Nathan Babian with the goal of meeting the increasing need for post-production specialists. The office will also be the permanent home to a staff of producers and post-production specialists who will team with VIA’s Memphis office to serve clients in the U.S. and Canada.

Start Co., ZeroTo510 and CO.LAB Announced as $50K Winners of SBA Competition

The U.S. Small Business Administration announced at the White House Demo Day the 80 winners of the Start Small Model prize in its Startup in a Day competition, and three accelerators in Tennessee won $50,000 each to support entrepreneurial growth.
